What it is

Pozor teaches you how your data is actually collected and used, not with jargon, but by busting the myths you’ve probably heard. Is your phone secretly listening? (No, almost certainly not, and independent audits back that up.) What’s an ad ID, and how does it let separate apps compare notes on you? What does a store actually learn when you walk in with Bluetooth on?

Each one gets a plain-language explanation of what’s really happening, then a concrete step you can take about it, including a live scanner that shows you the Bluetooth trackers broadcasting around you right now: real evidence, not just theory.

Why I built this

I’m Charles Chayce O’Neal. I’ve spent 16+ years in tech, most of it at Reddit, working alongside some genuinely incredible people. That vantage point taught me a lot about how Silicon Valley actually operates, and more importantly, why it matters to understand what these companies are doing with our data.

What’s always bothered me is how often I’d hear the same response from friends and family: “They already have my data anyway, why should I care?” I get why people feel that way. But I think data is becoming the most valuable commodity we have, and that’s only going to accelerate as AI becomes a bigger part of daily life.

I’m not going to walk through the worst-case scenarios here: the dystopian stuff gets the headlines, but it’s not what convinces people day to day. What actually gets people’s attention is smaller and closer to home: how an ad shows up right after you and a friend were just talking about a place to visit, or a product you’d only just heard about. How these systems seem to know what you want before you’ve fully thought it yourself.

That’s the gap I want to close. Not fear: understanding. I want people to see how this actually works, and then hand them simple, free steps they can take on the device they already carry every day, so they get to decide when and how their information gets shared, instead of it happening by default.
